Transfer Credit Form
Guidelines for Assigning Transfer Credit
- University and College level courses
- 80% content needs to overlap to be granted equivalent transfer credit; less than 80% overlap can be granted generic transfer credit
- 2XX vs 9XX and how to decide
- Introductory or first year courses are typically given junior credit (2XX)
- Upper year or courses with introductory prerequisites are typically given senior credit (9XX)
- Determining unit weight
- 39 credit hours is the standard for a 3 unit course with no lab component
- 52 credit hours is the standard for a 3 unit course that includes a lab component
- Course assessments should be completed by the department based on the name of the incoming course (example: BIOL 1112 should be assessed in the Biology department)
